Wyndham, Reside launch 'Residence' brand in U.S.

WYNDHAM HOTELS & RESORTS recently signed a 10-year development agreement with Reside, a residential hospitality management company, to launch five residence-style hotels, either open or under development, in the Wyndham portfolio. The franchise agreement marks the debut of the “Wyndham Residence” tier in the U.S., with plans to expand across the top 50 markets.

The properties will expand Wyndham’s position in the extended-stay segment, along with its existing brands: ECHO Suites Extended Stay by Wyndham, Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham and WaterWalk Extended Stay by Wyndham, the companies said in a joint statement.

“Reside has a proven track record as one of the most successful names in corporate housing," said Amit Sripathi, Wyndham’s chief development officer. "Whether you need a comfortable place to live for a prolonged time or you simply need more space while traveling with a larger group, Reside’s model expands our extended-stay offerings, delivering premium, professionally managed accommodations in locations we know guests want to visit. By tapping into Wyndham’s distribution network, we help unlock new demand generators that can help scale their business to the next level.”

Sripathi joined Wyndham in May, succeeding Chip Ohlsson, who left in June.

Wyndham Residences are established in locations like the UAE and Greece, the statement said. The agreement enables the company to bring guests to U.S. destinations, including Seattle, Houston and Washington, D.C. The model targets guests seeking long-term units and those looking for a base for quick getaways.

Reside has managed alternative accommodations and multi-family units for three decades, focusing on furnished corporate housing and operating in 60 countries.

“We’ve been in this business for decades, providing quality and comfort to people looking for a reliable home base," said Lee Curtis, Reside’s CEO and founder. "By partnering with Wyndham, we unlock access to its expansive distribution channels—including its network of approximately 112 million enrolled loyalty members—and join forces in delivering the memorable experiences in iconic cities today’s extended-stay guests are craving.”

Wyndham Residence open locations include Reside Seattle Downtown, a 55-room hotel near Pike Place Market, T-Mobile Park, Lumen Field and the Space Needle and Reside Houston Downtown, a 79-room hotel near the Theater District, Houston Symphony Orchestra, and Jones Hall, the statement said.

Future locations include a 22-room hotel in the Bywater neighborhood in New Orleans, about a mile from the French Quarter, and two properties in Washington, D.C.: an 81-room hotel near Barracks Row in Navy Yard and a 67-room hotel in the NOMA neighborhood.

In September, Wyndham’s "Registry Collection" debuted in the U.S. with the renovated Mining Exchange hotel in Colorado Springs. Wyndham also launched the “Accelerator Circle,” a platform connecting diverse hoteliers through quarterly virtual meetups for BOLD and Women Own the Room franchisees.

Furthermore, Wyndham and India’s Kamah Hotels & Resorts signed a $70 million agreement to develop four new hotels—three in India and one in the UAE—under the Trademark Collection. Kamah Hotels plans to add 25 more properties globally, including in North America, over the next three years.
