Sonesta Sets Industry Standard with HMCC Verified Venues

SONESTA INTERNATIONAL HOTELS Corp. is working with Meeting Professionals International to certify employees across its full-service portfolio through the Healthcare Meeting Compliance Certificate program. It claims to be the first hotel company with HMCC Verified Venues.

All full-service Sonesta hotels have completed HMCC Verified Venue training, ensuring employees are prepared to host medical meetings and groups, Sonesta said in a statement.

“At Sonesta, we recognize the unique needs of medical meetings and are committed to setting a new industry standard for compliance and excellence,” said Brian Macaluso, Sonesta's vice president for global sales. “Through this partnership with MPI, we are equipping our teams with the expertise necessary to host compliant and seamless medical meetings, reinforcing our full-service hotels as premier venues for the healthcare industry.”

Medical meetings demand a unique approach due to complex global regulations and strict compliance guidelines from pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech companies, the statement said. The two-year partnership with MPI ensures ongoing education and compliance with evolving healthcare meeting regulations.

Sonesta recently introduced a new Sonesta Simply Suites prototype for extended-stay hotels with two layouts: a 4-story, 122-key and a 3-story, 89-key, featuring in-suite kitchens, ergonomic workspaces, and storage. It also opened the 82-room Sonesta Essential Hotels Overland Park in Kansas.
