IHG promotes two for the Americas

Ciafa is new COO, Hicks is SVP for commercial and revenue management

Jay Ciafa is the new chief operating officer for the Americas at InterContinental Hotels Group and Brian Hicks is the new senior vice president of commercial and revenue management for the Americas.

Both Ciafa and Hicks are based at IHG’s Americas headquarters in Atlanta and report directly to Elie Maalouf, CEO for the Americas.


Caiafa joined the company in 2013 and previously served as senior vice president for hotel lifecycle and growth. He will oversee more than 4,000 IHG hotels across the U.S. and Canada. He also will continue as IHG’s representative on the Metro Atlanta Chamber board of directors.

Hicks previously was IHG’s vice president for global revenue management strategy.In his new role, he will lead the revenue management function and the commercial team in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Hicks served as the chief operating officer of TMI Hospitality and held multiple on-property roles at Ritz-Carlton.

In January, IHG appointed Heather Balsley as its senior vice president for global loyalty and partnership.

Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt Hotels Corp. president and CEO, has been named the 2025 Cornell Hospitality Icon of the Year. The award, established by the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration, will be presented at the Cornell Icon and Innovator Awards in New York City on June 3.
